Chiropractic Care For Runners

Here’s how to add chiropractic care to your training program!

3 Strength Exercises All Runners Should Be Doing

Marathon Monday is right around the corner. If you haven’t already, think about adding these 3 strength exercises to your training program:

1. Squats

With a graded exposure to load, good well practiced form, appropriately timed within your week, and when required, a spotter, training the squat is important for increasing glute, leg and back strength.  Squatting is also crucial life movement!

2. Hamstring Curls

A weak hamstring, or previously injured hamstring, loses its strength in longer ranges whilst maintaining a reasonable strength in a shorter range. This longer range is challenged when running and this is where Nordic Curl comes in.

3. Calf Raises

The “gastrocnemius” provides the beef when we look at someone’s calf, it’s the main job when running is propulsion and horizontal force production giving us the distance in our stride.

3 Most Common Injuries in Runners

Chiropractic Care can help with more than just spinal pain or injuries. Here are a few common injuries seen in runners:

Runner’s Knee

Pain in and around the kneecap that happens when you are active. Or pain after sitting for a long time with the knees bent. This sometimes causes weakness or feelings of instability.

Achilles Tendinitis

An overused and irritated tendon leads to pain in the back of the heel or lower part of the calf.

Hamstring Injury/Strain

Often seen as a chronic condition as the individual has not regained necessary strength.
